Alps Outdoorz is quickly rising in the ranks for having a vast line of quality backpacks with all the right features, so it is no surprise that the new luggage line is quickly becoming a favorite for outdoor enthusiasts. Alps Outdoorz incorporated quality materials and great features in the Voyager X and Journey X resulting in streamlined luggage.
The Voyager X and Journey X are identical products with the exception that the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation licenses the Journey X and the bag features an embroidered RMEF logo on the front upper pocket boldly representing support for the organization. The bags are constructed of coyote brown 1680D nylon ballistic fabric for extra durability and have Hypalon reinforcement at the handles for unmatched strength. The interior nylon lining protects the case, and the stiff sidewalls add extra durability while the interior compression straps keep clothing securely in place. The unique streamline shape of the case allows for 4,900 cubic inches of packing.
An additional storage pocket in the lid makes the perfect place to stow smaller articles like socks, gloves, toboggans or other small items. Two outer front pockets are convenient for quick access items. The top exterior zipper pocket allows enough room for small electronics such as phones, a GPS unit, a rangefinder or other small gear. The lower exterior pocket allows enough space for folded maps, tags, licenses, or other small flat items.
The four easy-to-grab nylon handles, reinforced with Hypalon, make for easy handling and loading of the luggage. The side and top weight supporting handles are riveted for extra reinforcement. The main storage area features an oversized #10 zipper with string pull tabs and joining security loops for use with a TSA luggage lock. Unfortunately, the Voyager X and Journey X are not TSA carry-on size rated. The maximum size for TSA carry-on luggage is 45 linear inches and each piece of luggage measures 55 linear inches. High-quality, smooth gliding rollerblade style wheels, and retractable pull handle make the bag convenient for handling and pulling through an airport. An identification pocket and support rails are located on the back of the luggage. The Voyager X and Journey X weigh just under ten pounds and measures 33”L x 13”W x 9”D.
On our recent three-day turkey hunting trip to Florida, I easily packed hunting clothes and street clothes for two people in the Voyager X. I found the interior pocket perfect for socks, gloves, face masks, under clothes, and other small items. I was able to get three rows of folded clothes in the main interior space. The front top exterior pocket was perfect for our belts, and the lower pocket fits our folded dirty clothes bag perfectly. The convenience of being able to roll the luggage made it easy to carry other items from the truck to our hotel room saving trips and time. In the call confines of our hotel room, the streamlined size of the bag allowed it to be conveniently tucked out of the way, yet effortlessly accessible.
