Turkey hunting combines several circumstances that can make choosing the “perfect boot” hard to do, especially if you plan to hunt various terrain. The features that are important in turkey hunting boot are that the boots need to be comfortable in both warm and frigid weather, waterproof, and one that offers good foot/ankle support with a non-aggressive, all-terrain outsole tread.
This spring, we made plans to hunt several states of varying terrain and climates. There is always a concern with poisonous snakes in the south, but as luck would have it, we would be hunting early season in Alabama and Florida. This made snake boots unnecessary, which meant the same boots could be worn in all five states that we planned to hunt, taking into consideration the terrain of each state. The self-insulating, natural rubber upper shell construction is 100% waterproof and incorporates Spandora® with Inscentable® scent masking. The full waterproof gusset allows for full height water proofing to keep feet dry when traversing through ditches, creeks, wet/muddy trails, or walking in tall, damp grass. The outsole offers a flat, hiking boot style tread that allows for a quieter footfall, easy walking, and good traction. The toe rand adds support in areas that commonly wear the quickest.
The boots are an officially licensed product available in 3D Realtree Xtra print and are available in size 7-15. The Original Muck Boot Company, Pursuit Shadow is a packable, lightweight boot that ranks the lightest hunting boot in its class. The boots held up and wore well in the hot, damp Florida climate to the 8 inches of snow that we experienced in Kansas.
